So a lot has happened to me since my last post, can believe its been over three years, and how time flies. Lets see where do I start from? The beginning is always best; I shall have to break it down into a series of stories. No one wants to be reading about me for hours I'm sure.
So I went out on a date with this guy that I had been speaking to for a while but hadn't gone out with yet. We go to the cinema to watch a movie and get Popcorn and drinks and he carries them all inside and I remember thinking to myself: “Nice, a gentleman”.
Anyway we get to our seats and he hands me my popcorn and we start watching the movie, next thing I know he leans over and dips his hand into my popcorn and stares longingly and says to me: “Naki zan ci”(I want to eat yours in Hausa). I was so creeped out because it didn't sound like he was talking about popcorn! LOL and couldn't hide my expression, all these thoughts flashed through my mind: “NYAMA! I have only just met you”,”I don't know where that hand has been” and I'm weird about people eating off my plate so to speak without asking. He noticed I didn't like it and offered to get me another and I sorta felt bad(not really) but said no, and spent the rest of the movie trying to eat from the bottom of the bag without being so obvious. At least the movie was good so it wasn't a total loss.
So please I need your opinion, was that romantic or not?
Lol!! Nyama indeed.. Abt the thots in your head, I know! It can be really irritating when the you arnt attracted to the person. -i'll say it was a romantic gesture! Lol. Nyc post
ReplyDeleteDefinitely NOT romantic (I'm pretty sure he was being suggestive with the 'I want to eat yours'...ickityick! If you want to eat popcorn, get your own. Abi he was too cheap to buy two? Nice post!!!
ReplyDelete@ Onyinye he had his own popcorn, that was the most annoying part. It was more "romantic" to it from mine. LOL
ReplyDeleteLol,why would you be thinking of where his hand has been? A louder LOL at "naki zan ci" guess that's his idea of being romantic(I dint just say dat). Well,u seem to have your boundaries you only need to make him aware, nice one though.
ReplyDeletewell first of all NOT romantic, corny though but not romantic . I'm "weird" about someone I barely know dipping his hands in my food too. Maybe is a boundary thing but it creeps me out. Haha . Nice post hope you keep them coming :D
ReplyDeleteDEE
@ Rahma, many people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom, even women. Yuk!
ReplyDeleteAs for boundary issues, most Nigerians don't know what that word means.
LOL!! Not romantic whatsoever! Annoying and also kinda creepy. I like your silver lining approach though... at least the movie was good!
ReplyDeleteIts too comfortable and corny! It is wrong on so many levels. First of all he has to respect the dating process. WTH! Its a FIRST date not a fifteen year anniversary date. Sheesh! "Naki zan ci?" Um... Thats like a hubby status comment. And, I am mad you actually felt bad and diplomatically kept eating the popcorn. You cannot be diplomatic about your hygiene, my dear. Ew! You know I'm mean...LOL!
ReplyDeletehe was tryn to be romantic
